Quick fix skin
I’ve finally got on board with BB creams (yes, I know it’s now all about the CC cream, but give me a chance to catch up). As a lover of all things multi-tasking, you’d think I’d have been there a while ago, but I’m there now (notice I included one in my Top 10 Mummy Look travel essentials).
BB creams, or Blemish Balm creams, are basically make-up with benefits. They usually act as a primer, base and protector in one, so your complexion gets evened out, tinted and illuminated while there’s an added dash of SPF in there for good sun-protecting measure, cutting your skin-prepping routine in half.
My two favourites are Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream (bought by my husband as an anniversary gift after I tried a free sachet in a magazine and
demanded raved about it), and Garnier Ambre Solaire BB Cream.
Spend: Clarins BB Skin Perfecting Cream
- Creamy, lightweight satin finish
- Evens skin tone
- Revitalises complexion
- SPF 25
- Three shades
- From £22, Boots, Debenhams, etc
Why I like it: It’s Clarins. I love Clarins. The smell, the packaging… And the velvety finish acts like the best primer on the market, making my skin look smooth and done while keeping that barely-there appearance.
Save: Garnier Ambre Solaire BB Cream
- Light to medium coverage
- Illuminates skin
- SPF 30
- Tinted formula
- From £15.99, most chemists
Why I like it: The tint both blends in with my skin tone and gives me a healthy colour at the same time. It contains illuminating particles that add a subtle glow and a nice high sun protection factor. It’s cheaper than Clarins.
